The minute I entered the home to capture newborn images of little Iris, I was greeted by her laying peacefully on the floor while her two older brothers hovering over her with love and kisses. I began shooting immediately – her brothers were obviously super proud of their baby sister, and she was just lapping it up. The beauty of lifestyle sessions with older siblings, is that the whole session is ‘go with the flow’. There are no expectations on them to behave or be still. In this shoot, I took advantage of the gorgeous play room so the boys could play and I could just get some shots of their interaction together. I also guided them all on the bed together, and then watched what unfolded before me. The resulting image is one of my favourites – it shows what life is like with kids – a life filled with fun, chaos and love. There were certain images I wanted to capture – such as Iris’s beautiful nursery, her gorgeous bassinet (check it out in the images!), and the carrier she spent a lot of time sleeping in. Iris was so peaceful for the entire shoot – I don’t think I even heard her cry once in the almost 2 hours I was there! She was bright eyed and interested in the camera – looking straight into my lens and following me around. At the very end she fell asleep in her carrier on her mum. Just peacefully and quietly fell asleep.

I met the Bebic Family at Hyde Park for a family session. Sue wanted to get some new photos of her with her two daughters. Her girls may have been hesitant to attend a photo session, however there were no signs of that when I met them. They were fun, easy going, attentive to their mum, and willing to do anything I asked them to do. It’s obvious how much they love their mum – and also how well they get along with each other. I know it’s probably not always like that, but it was beautiful to be able to capture their bond.
As with all family sessions, I love capturing those little moments between shots. I don’t need everyone to smile at the camera – I want to capture the emotion of their relationships, and the little details that are so easy to take for granted. During my sessions, I’ll guide you to sit somewhere and get as close as possible – and then the rest is just me moving around and capturing your bond from all different angles and perspectives. I move around A LOT during my sessions, and in fact in every single session, I’ve always almost fallen over at least ONCE. One day it’s going to happen for real!

I met Crystal and Luke at Burns Beach to celebrate their pregnancy with their first baby. Luke had encouraged Crystal to get some photos taken, and I’m so glad he did. She looked absolutely beautiful, and the outfits she chose were just perfect. White, flowing and lace always looks so beautiful at the beach. Not to mention those gorgeous head pieces! We were so lucky with the weather, which worked out great as Crystal and Luke were keen to get in the water for some shots. During maternity sessions I also like to celebrate the couple (if Dad is there), as this marks the time just before their lives are forever changed. It all started with them, and so it’s nice to be able to get some images to not only celebrate the growing bump, but also to celebrate them as a couple before the birth of their baby. This couple had such a sense of fun – their energy, love and affection for each other just made it so easy to photograph. They went on to have a baby girl, Tallulah, and I was lucky enough to capture Tallulah’s Newborn Lifestyle Session as well.
